Tens of thousands of dollars has been raised to support kids with physical and developmental challenges in Chatham-Kent.

Tim Hortons restaurants in Dresden, Chatham and Wallaceburg took part in the Smile Cookie Campaign between April 28 to May 4, raising $67,986 in support of the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent.

More than 100 community volunteers assisted with baking and decorating thousands of cookies at the Chatham Armoury kitchen during the campaign with funds going directly towards programs at the Centre that are not covered by government funding, including social work, therapeutic recreation, and music therapy.

“We are deeply grateful for the continued support from our community, Tim Hortons, and the generous volunteers who helped make this year’s campaign a success,” said Mike Genge, President and CEO at the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation. “The funds raised will make a real difference in the lives of the children and families who rely on our programs for essential therapy and support.”

The treatment centre was one of 600 Canadian charities, hospitals, and community programs that were supported through the sale of Smile Cookies with over $22-million raised nation-wide.

Other Tim Hortons restaurants in Chatham-Kent raised money for Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Chatham-Kent Student Nutrition Program.
