Old man winter is making his presence felt in Chatham-Kent and across southern Ontario.

School buses in all zones were initially cancelled this morning, followed by an announcement shortly before 7 o’clock that all schools in both the Lambton Kent and St Clair Catholic District School Boards would be closed for the day. Wallaceburg Christian School is also closed.

It is the first time inclement weather has forced the closure of local schools since December, 2022.

A level yellow snow squall warning remains in place this morning with another 10-20cm of snow possible into this afternoon.

Officials with Environment Canada say visibility will continue to be reduced with heavy, blowing snow.

Motorists are urged to use caution with hazardous travel conditions in some areas and visibility reduced to zero at times.
