A warning from Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services that despite the cold temperatures over the last week, no ice should be considered 100% safe right now.
Fire fighters from Station 3 in Wallaceburg responded to a distress call just before 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon from a woman on the Snye River.
Fire officials say the person was close to open water, but crews were able to bring her back to shore safely.
Officials say ice thickness on local rivers, creeks, and streams isn’t consistent, especially with changing weather conditions.
