Charges have been laid following an incident at a local soup kitchen over the long weekend.
Police responded to Fifth Street in Chatham shortly after 9 o’clock Saturday morning.
Authorities say two people had been waiting in line for food when they were attacked by an unknown man.
Officers were able to identify the suspect, who was still at the scene.
The 29-year-old accused is charged with two counts of assault. He was taken to police headquarters and released from custody with conditions and a future court date.
