Special Tapestry Exhibit at the Capitol Theatre

A special exhibit at the Chatham Capitol Theatre is marking the 20th anniversary of the Tulip Tree Needlearts Guild.

It’s part of the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry project, telling the story of Scottish immigrants across the world.

The Baldoon Tapestry was recently accepted to be included in the international project, reflecting the Scottish influence on Canadian history. The new tapestry will be on display along with all of 37 Canadian Panels from the project, which will eventually be housed in Scotland.

The 37 Canadian Tapestries of the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry project have been travelling across Ontario thanks to a collaborative effort of CK Arts + Culture, Tulip Tree Needlearts Guild and the City of Guelph Museums.

Also on display, Your Grandmother’s Needlework highlights innovative embroidery and needlework using traditional and modern techniques, created by the members of Tulip Tree Needlearts Guild.

The exhibits will be available for view noon-4pm daily Tuesday through Saturday until October 29.
