Wallaceburg lacrosse product Kyle Dawson is heading to the big leagues. The Florence native was selected 41st overall by the San Diego Seals in last night’s National Lacrosse League draft.

It’s season opener night for the Kings and Sharks in PJHL action. Puck drop is 7:30 from Wheatley.
In the Jr B ranks – the Chatham Maroons are back in Sarnia on Thursday night.
The OHL regular season opens Thursday. Sarnia hosts Hamilton on Friday in their season and home opener. London is home to the Petes Friday night as well.

Several lockey C-K hockey players will make their OHL debuts this weekend. Highly regarded prospect Deni Goure makes his first appearance on Saturday when his Owen Sound Attack host the Ottawa 67s. D-man Craig Spence and Mississauga host Niagara on Friday, while goalie Brett Brochu and the Knights host the Petes. Grayson Ladd, C-K’s lone rep in the O last year, opens with the Spits this weekend as well.

Chatham rugby player Tyler Doran will be representing a Canadian team overseas in an upcoming rugby series. Doran, who plays for the Kent Havoc in Chatham, will represent the Canada Wolverines on a 10-day tour of Serbia and Bosnia.

Congrats to all those who took part in and supported the 2019 Tuukka Cup. The tournament in memory of Ronny Betterley raised $14,384.06 for Ronny’s Charities: ChildCan, Children’s Wish, and Ronald McDonald House. Blenheim Chev helped with a test drive fundraiser. The tournament has now raised nearly $25,000 in its first two years.
