Bio:
Since a Genie nomination for Best Original Song in 2007 thrust Luke Nicholson into the Canadian music scene, he hasn’t looked back. Working tirelessly honing his skills as a song writer and stage performer, Luke has toured across North America, and Europe. Playing festival stages from Midem to the world renowned stages of Reeperbahn, Luke has garnered the attention of peers and fans alike, playing along side Hannah Georgas, Kinnie Starr, Aiden Knight, The Balconies and the Sheepdogs.
Since 2010 the Canadian singer songwriter has been working at a frantic pace, firmly establishing himself as one of Canada’s finest alt/pop songwriters. His 2012 chart topping album Mad Love earned wide praise across Canada producing 3 top 20 singles on CBC Radio 2 (charting for 30 weeks combined), Best New Artist and, Best Pop Single at New Music Fest, as well as being named to CBC’s Top 100 songs of 2013.
His music has also been featured in several TV and Film productions, including Poor Boys Game (staring Danny Glover and Rossiff Sutherland), earning him a Best Original Song nomination at the Genies.
In a 2014 review by Rolling Stone magazine (Germany ) senior music editor Arne Willander declared Luke was “one to keep eyes on” comparing his song writing to a “young Elton John and Billy Joel” Now with the release of his 3rd studio album “Frantic City” Luke is “poised to achieve even higher heights both domestically and abroad”
Beautifully constructed “Frantic City” is his most poignant album to date. Having written the majority of material for this record while touring away from his new born daughter, one can hear the love, and maturity in both his lyrics and delivery. Recorded entirely in Toronto at Revolution Studio, Luke enlisted the help of renowned percussionist/producer Roger Travassos, to serve as executive producer, with Stew Crookes, Michael Phillip Wojewoda and Laurence Currie providing ears as recording and mix engineers.
With his recent signing to Make My Day/Indigo records in Europe, a national distribution deal with Fontana North, Canadian and European tours, and countless radio stops across the country this is one artist who is making his mark.
