#SPOTLIGHT: MIDLIFE CRISIS

THIS WEEK’S FEATURED #SPOTLIGHT ARTIST IS HUSBAND AND WIFE DUO “MIDLIFE CRISIS” – KRIS AND LESLIE YOUNG. THE #SPOTLIGHT IS HEARD DAILY AT 11:30AM DURING WEEKDAZE WITH JAY SMITH.

Kris and Leslie Young have both always been passionate about music. Through the pandemic, that passion has been taken centre stage on their new YouTube channel and social media.
With covers ranging from Brooks & Dunn to Led Zeppelin and some new original material, the Wallaceburg residents have certainly found their sweet spot.
Homegrown Chatham-Kent husband and wife Kris (Dover Centre) & Leslie (Wallaceburg) Young’s marriage in 2017 ignited their passion for playing music with each other. They both played guitar and sang live in various music groups for years previously before knowing one another. Once together, they started playing cover songs of various rock, pop, and country artists.
Leslie began playing keyboard and programming drums in order to bring a different texture to their music. Eventually they began to play live locally at The Oak’s Retirement Village where Leslie’s Father Ron Janssens lived at the time. They both enjoyed sharing the gift of music and the fun atmosphere it created for the residents and their families.
Once COVID-19 Restrictions came into effect in March of 2020, they began recording and posting videos of their versions of popular songs on social media for family and friends. Kris & Leslie found it therapeutic for themselves as did the people who were watching their video performances during that time.
Their friends were very supportive of their music and encouraged them to keep playing and posting more music, including specific song requests. Fast Forward to 2021, and they both find the therapeutic benefits of making music together even more needed since the recent loss of both of Leslie’s parents in 2020. Her parents were both lovers of music and highly supportive of Kris & Leslie’s musical gifts.
They continue to play and record weekly at the encouragement of their family, friends, and all who desire to listen. They are humbled by the positive response and impact of their music, and feel blessed to share their gift of making music together.
