Spring Has Sprung

It’s the first full day of spring, and if you feel like old man winter hasn’t been able to let go, you’re right.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Peter Kimbell says we’ve likely seen the last of any major snowfall.

“It’s been cold, the next little while brings more rollercoaster type weather, so warm one day, cold the next, and that seems to be the trend for the beginning of spring.”

Kimbell says it’s probably safe to put the shovels away.

“But, I don’t want to suggest we won’t see any more snow because we do have flurries in the forecast,” Kimbell warns, noting Friday the high is just +3 Celsius. “The normal high this time of year is +8.”

He says between now and the end of March, there are no major storms in the forecast and April traditionally only brings an average of 1cm of snow.
