Classes are continuing at St Clair College in Windsor after a student tested positive for COVID-19.

School officials say the individual’s classmates have been advised to self-monitor for 14 days, but to continue in-person attendance while keeping to public health measures.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit says the transmission risk with the student’s case is low.

Students and staff at the Windsor campus have to fill out an online questionnaire every day in order to get access to the school, measures that President Patti France says working.

“The larger lesson we’re taking from this is that our pandemic plan and all of its related procedures have been put in place for a very good reason, demanding conscientious recognition and adherence by students and staff,” France says. “Our collective well-being is dependent upon individual behaviour, so we each have an essential role to play to protect ourselves, our classmates and our colleagues.”
