St Vincent School Sold

Another former Catholic school is under new ownership.

The old St Vincent School at the corner of McNaughton and Prince Albert in Chatham has been sold for $1-million to Chatham Seniors Care.

“Trustees are pleased to have this sale completed, as we continue to divest the Board of surplus properties,” says John Van Heck, Chair of the Board.  “It is gratifying whenever our properties that are no longer in use as schools can be repurposed to the benefit of the community.”

The building closed in 2020 and was declared surplus when the new St Angela Merici School opened, consolidating English Catholic elementary students from across Chatham’s north side.

There is still one final school building to be sold on the open market. The St Clair Catholic District School Board says offering dates are yet to be determined for the Monsignor Uyen Catholic School site on Lark Street in Chatham. That school closed this past June.
