Staggered Start For Bkejwanong Students

As students will be back in class in just a few weeks, school boards are finalizing their return to school plans, including those on Walpole Island First Nation.

Schools across Ontario are seeing a huge change when it comes to back to school. Walpole Island First Nation will be no exception for BK and AK. The school year will start September 14th with a staggered start and with heavy safety protocols in place.

Staff will be screened and have body temperatures checked every day upon arrival. Students will be screened just before they board the bus and will have their body temperatures checked when arriving at school

The staggered start for students is being split into two groups. Students in grade 1-8 in Group A will attend class Monday September 14th while students grade 1-8 in Group B will attend on Tuesday. Both groups will attend class on Wednesday. Junior and Senior kindergarten students will be getting their own staggered start.

Schools ensure that students in the same household will attend class on the same day. Families will be in contact with more specific information and what group their kids will belong to.
