The second annual Steve Bilodeau Memorial golf tournament raised over $61,000, which will benefit Wallaceburg Legion Branch 18.

This year’s tournament was held on June 21 at Chatham’s Maple City Golf Course. The Steve Bilodeau Memorial Golf Tournament is a way for his family to continue his legacy of service after he lost his short battle with cancer in 2022.

In late 2023, the Bilodeau family announced they were donating $275,000 towards the naming of the Steve Bilodeau Event Centre as part of the Legion’s revitalization project.

Chantelle Bilodeau-Seton, Steve Bilodeau’s daughter said the money from this year’s golf tournament is specifically going towards naming the bar at the event centre.

“We are just so grateful for all the donors and their generous contributions that we really want something within the event centre specifically recognizing them and their contributions,” Bilodeau-Seton said.

She added that the family raises money to help walk Steve Bilodeau’s legacy of service to the future.
“It’s important for us as a family to see his name out there, to see his legacy, to let his grandchildren—my children, see their G’s name out in the community that he loved so much.”
