Stolen Vehicle Leads to Charges for a Blenheim Man

A Blenheim man is facing a slew of charges in connection to a stolen vehicle found in Middlesex County.

Shortly before 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Provincial Police officers were called to Thames Road southeast of Glencoe, trying to find a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Chatham-Kent and was being tracked by GPS.

Police found the vehicle stopped on the road near Gentlemen Drive. Authorities say during the course of the investigation, one officer was attacked and the accused tried to run.

Additional officers were able to catch up with the suspect, however a further altercation ensued and two more officers were assaulted. None of the officers were seriously hurt.

The 41-year-old accused has now been charged with three counts of assault with intent to resist arrest, three counts of driving while prohibited, two counts of driving under suspension, as well as possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 and failing to comply with a probation order.

The Blenheim man was held in custody for a bail hearing.
