Stolen Vehicle Runs Red Light With Headlights Off

Charges have been laid after police stopped a stolen vehicle that was seen running a red light at night with its headlights off.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a Wallaceburg resident reported Saturday at around 9:30 p.m. that his vehicle had been stolen from his home on Margaret Avenue.

Later that night, officers spotted the vehicle after it ran a red light while travelling south on St. Clair Street in Chatham with its lights off. Police conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

A 47-year-old Walpole Island woman is now charged with theft over $5,000 and driving while under suspension. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.
