A Chatham-Kent councillor has been elected to help lead municipal advocacy efforts at the national level.

During the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Annual General Meeting and Conference in June, Ward 6 Councillor Alysson Storey was elected as Vice Chair of the Board’s Ontario Caucus. She was also re-elected for her third term to the 2025-2026 Board of Directors.

“To be recognized by my FCM peers and elected vice-chair of the Ontario Caucus, the largest Provincial Caucus at FCM, raises the profile of Chatham-Kent even more, and allows me a greater leadership opportunity to make sure our local voices are heard at the federal level,” said Storey in a news release.

The FCM acts as an advocate for communities across the country, lobbying the federal government to fund critical infrastructure needs and acting as the national voice for local governments on vital municipal issues.

Storey was also part of an FCM delegation to Washington, D.C. earlier this year, representing local governments on the issue of tariffs and their economic impact on Canadian communities.
