A dark and stormy afternoon left thousands of local residents without power on Wednesday.

Entegrus crews were kept hard at work in Chatham, Wallaceburg, Bothwell, and Merlin with downed tree limbs, poles, and power lines.

Several roads were closed as crews cleaned away debris.

Emergency officials remind all residents in the event you come across a downed power line, assume the line is energized and never try to move downed wires or tree limbs on your own.

The majority of customers had their power back by 7:30, although some in Wallaceburg were left in the dark until shortly before 11 last night.
