A Belle River man got the new year started in a big way with a licence suspension.
According to Chatham-Kent OPP, the 46-year-old man was caught doing more than 160 km/h on the 401 near Queens Line just before midnight on Monday.
His licence and his car were taken for a week.
OPP say the penalties for stunt driving include $2000 to $10,000 fine upon conviction, six demerit points, up to six months jail, up to two years licence suspension for a first conviction, and having your driver’s license suspended for up to 10 years for a second conviction within a 10 year span.
