A Merlin resident will be finding alternate means of transportation for the next few weeks after being pulled over by the OPP on New Year’s Day.

Provincial Police stopped a driver on Highway 40 near St Andrews Line on January 1 after radar recorded the vehicle traveling at 140 kilometres an hour in an 80 zone.

The 52-year-old accused has been charged with stunt driving, had their license suspended for 30 days and vehicle impounded for two weeks.

Authorities are reminding all drivers to slow down as speed remains one of the top contributing factors in fatal collisions.
