Supporting Local Businesses Through COVID-19

The municipality is hoping to lend a helping hand to small businesses as the pandemic drags on.

A report to council tonight recommends $125,000 be taken from provincial funding under the Safe ReStart Agreement to help local businesses beef up their online presence.

The money would allow as many as 50 businesses to apply for funding through the Digital Main Street grant program to enhance digital and e-commerce technology.

The move would provide up to $2500 in funding to help local companies and entrepreneurs boost their online presence.

The Digital Main Street grants are typically only given to businesses in a community’s downtown core, but passing this recommendation tonight would expand that to include those outside the designated areas as well.
