Suspect Charged Following Multiple Thefts In Chatham

A 44-year-old man has been arrested following a string of thefts in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said between March 16-25, officers responded to thefts at businesses on Park Avenue West, Grand Avenue West and Lacroix Street.

Following an investigation, officers were able to identify a single suspect in connection to the thefts.

Police located the suspect walking on Park Street on Monday at around 2 a.m. However, when officers attempted to stop him, he allegedly took off running. Following a chase, the suspect was arrested.

As a result, a 44-year-old Chatham man is charged with two counts of theft and two counts of possession of stolen property. He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
