Charges have been laid after a local resident spotted someone acting suspiciously near downtown Chatham.
Authorities say officers responded shortly after 2:30 this morning and found a woman hiding behind a display at the corner of King Street West and Second Street. The investigating officer discovered the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant in connection to a theft investigation launched last month.
The 39-year-old was arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property. She was released with a future court date.
