Two people have been arrested following a theft at a construction site in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to the site of the new Children’s Treatment Centre on McNaughton Avenue West on February 10 following a break-and-enter.
Authorities learned that between February 6 and February 10, someone entered the construction site and stole $10,000 worth of tools.
Following an investigation, officers with the Intelligence Unit executed a search warrant at a Sandys Street residence on Friday and arrested two suspects. All but one of the stolen tools were also recovered.
As a result, a 35-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, both from Chatham, have both been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000. The man is additionally charged with break-and-enter to commit an indictable offence and was held at the South West Detention Centre pending his next court appearance. The woman was released from custody with conditions and a future court date.
