Members of the Sydenham District Hospital Auxiliary are continuing their support of local health care.
The organization recently presented a cheque for $35,000 to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation, the second installment of its $100,000 pledge in support of the Our Hospital, Our Future Wallaceburg Site Redevelopment Campaign.
The funds have been raised through the Serendipity Gift Shop at the Wallaceburg site.
CKHA Foundation officials say the Auxiliary’s three-year pledge, first announced in July 2024, demonstrates the organization’s ongoing dedication to enhancing patient care and supporting hospital priorities through volunteerism and fundraising.
“Support from groups like the Sydenham District Hospital Auxiliary is absolutely vital,” said Christine Mitchell, CKHAF President & CEO in a news release. “We’re so grateful for the Auxiliary’s leadership and for every person who shops at or donates to the gift shop, because their kindness truly makes a difference.”
The Our Hospital, Our Future campaign is a $9 million fundraising effort to support the community’s local share of the project. Plans for the Wallaceburg hospital include a 20,000-square-foot redevelopment and expansion, featuring a new Emergency Department, inpatient beds, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, ambulatory care clinics, and other essential services.
