Local residents will take to the streets this week to raise awareness about sexual violence against women.
The Chatham-Kent Sexual Assault Crisis Centre will hold the annual Take Back the Night march in downtown Chatham on Friday.
The event honours the historic stand in the 1970s by those who first advocated for the essential right of women to walk alone at night without fear of being raped, harassed, or otherwise harmed.
The march begins at 7 o’clock at the WISH Centre on King Street East, making its way through downtown Chatham before returning to the WISH Centre for a rally against gender-based violence. The evening continues with live entertainment, refreshments, and door prizes.
The event is free for all ages and genders to participate. Registration is encouraged, but not required. CLICK HERE to register or find more information.
