Arson charges have been laid against a Chatham man, accused of setting fire to a Taylor Avenue home.
According to Chatham-Kent Police, the home’s occupants discovered the fire at the front of the building Monday morning and spotted a man, whom they knew, standing a few feet away holding a fuel can.
By the time officers arrived, the fire had been doused, leaving burn marks, but the accused had already fled the rea.
The 45-year-old was located later in the day and arrested, charged with arson-endangering life, and arson-damage to property.
The suspect was held in custody for a bail hearing.
