Tecumseh Students Support Healthcare

A group of elementary students in Chatham is teaming up to help raise money for some much-needed hospital equipment.

Tecumseh Public School Grade 5-6 teacher Lisa Pieta says the Tecumseh Hospital Helpers Alliance has already raised $1200 for the Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign, selling popcorn and hot dogs to their fellow students.

“But aside from the money it’s the soft skills the kids have really stepped up to the plate in having to cooperate and work as a team to organize for a school for our size, it’s not an easy feat, ‘Oh I forgot my order,’ or ‘I didn’t get my hot dog’, all those little glitches that can happen at a school wide event.”

The class is collecting donations for a school candy hunt and raffle, with a cheque presentation planned with the Foundation of CKHA next Thursday.
