Telecommunication Wires Damaged, Stolen Along Highway 40

Authorities in Lambton County are looking to the public for help as they investigate the theft of telecommunication wire in St. Clair Township.

According to provincial police, officers were called to an area along Highway 40 shortly after noon on May 6, where three utility boxes had been damaged and wires had been cut and stolen.

Authorities say theft and damage to telecommunication infrastructure are not simply property crimes, they can create serious public safety risks, affecting networks that support essential services such as 911, emergency response, medical alert systems, internet access, and telephone connectivity.

Lambton OPP urge the public to report any suspicious activity near telecom infrastructure.
