It turns out the Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre is fundraising by phone.
Chatham-Kent Police originally were warning people of an alleged scam where callers were asking for donations for the local women’s program.
Officials at the centre said it wasn’t fundraising via telemarketing campaigns.
As it stands a Vancouver based telemarketing firm is in fact campaigning on their behalf for an upcoming event being held March 31, 2016 at the Chatham Banquet & Conference Centre in Chatham.
