With Wallaceburg’s Lord Selkirk Bridge closed for the next six months, more traffic is being re-routed to Murray Street.
The increase is causing concern for parents whose kids have to cross the busy road at Reaume Avenue to get to school.
Councillor Aaron Hall says there is a plan to install a temporary traffic light on Reaume, however it could take some time to get set up.
“Originally the was supposed to be some temporary signals put in place at the Murray and Reaume intersection, but there were some delays with locates with the utilities in the area,” Hall explains.
At this point, there’s no exact timeline to have the lights installed.
Hall says despite the four day delay in getting the bridge on McNaughton Ave closed, the municipality still expects the work to be complete by the end of August.
