Students at WDSS are taking part in the school’s 10th annual Terry Fox event today.
Teacher Nancy Schinkelshoek says since 2007 the school has raised about $7,000.
“We’ve already raised $440 through t-shirt sales,” Schinkelshoek says. “We’re hoping we can hit the $1000 mark and add another thousand to our grand total.”
Grade 7 and 8 students will take part in the walk as usual, but the school has also added a new fundraising component this year.
“We had several staff donate items, and we’re going to auction them off,” Schinkelshoek explains.
Donated items include various gift cards, cupcakes, and hand-made sushi as well as bonus marks on tests, donated by the math department.
All money raised will be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation.
