Hundreds of Chatham-Kent residents strapped on their running shoes this past weekend for the Terry Fox Run.
Fundraisers were held in communities across the municipality, including Dresden where 352 people turned out to raise over $32,000 in support of cancer research.
Organizer Cindy Brewer says it’s always a very emotional event.
“It’s just their passion, they take this run, they own it, they do their own thing,” Brewer says. “They pushed beds, pulled trucks, run across the municipality, rollerbladed from Wheatley, it’s just been crazy.”
The Wallaceburg run drew a crowd of 100 participants, raising just shy of $9500.
Terry Fox Runs were also held in Chatham, which raised just over $14,000; Tilbury, raising $16,000; Ridgetown, which brought in approximately $5100; and Blenheim, which raised close to $37,000.
