Terry’s Hungarian Letzo (Pepper Stew)

Hungarian Letzo (pronounced Letcho)

                (Hungarian Pepper Stew)

Ingredients: 

1 lg. Onion (bite sized)

1 green peppers (bite sized)

1 red peppers (bite sized

2 diced tomatoes (you can peel if you want but not necessary)

(1 hot pepper, if desired, chopped fine)

¼  lb. Hungarian Sausage

½ lb. Ham or Ham Kolbassa Sausage

½ tsp. Black Pepper

1 clove of chopped garlic

 

In a deep frying pan, sautee onions to almost burned but don’t burn, the trick to get the best flavour is in the sautéing.

Add peppers and let cook, covered, for about 10 min.

Add tomatoes, meat and black pepper, covering and simmer for about ¾ hr.

Add garlic and let simmer for another 10 min.

 

This will serve about 2 to 3 people. I usually make a large pot so I am doubling or tripling the recipe.
