Thames River Algae Bloom

Tests are being done to determine if the algae bloom in the Thames River is producing the dangers toxin responsible for killing wildlife and pets on Lake Erie.

According to the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority, Ministry officials & researchers are taking samples, saying the bloom seems to be worse upstream of the city of Chatham.

The bloom was first noticed Monday morning.

It’s been two years since the last time a bloom appeared in the river.
