Thamesville Bakery Sponsoring Cat Adoptions In CK

A local bakery is helping to ensure dozens of furry felines find homes in Chatham-Kent this summer.

The owners of Bent Tin in Thamesville have volunteered to help offset the cost of adopting cats or kittens through Paw and Wildlife (PAW) Rescue throughout the month of August.

PAW Rescue Operations Manager Myriam Armstrong said there are around 320 animals being cared for at the shelter, including around 60 cats.

She said the shelter jumped at the opportunity when they were approached by the bakery.

“They’re just incredibly generous people and they realized we were struggling,” she said. “They decided, you know what, we want to do something to move animals into homes because it’s just too much for a shelter.”

Thanks to the sponsorship from Bent Tin, the cost to adopt kittens and cats is now only $50 or $75 for a pair.

“If it’s your first time owning a pet, you have to fill up on supplies,” she said. “This is a savings of $110 per adoption, so you can invest that in food, toys, litter boxes, whatever you want.”

Those interested in adopting one of the animals can do so online by visiting pawr.org or by visiting the shelter at 405 Park Ave. E in Chatham.
