An alleged repeat offender from Thamesville has turned himself in after his partner was assaulted on two separate occasions.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the accused was initially released from custody back in January with conditions, after being charged with several intimate partner violence offences.
His release conditions prohibited him from communicating with or attending any place where the victim was known to live, work, or go to school.
However, officers learned that the man and the victim had allegedly been involved in an argument on November 14, which escalated when the victim was assaulted. Authorities also learned of other incidents where the man allegedly breached his conditions during the months after his release.
When the man could not be located, a warrant was issued for his arrest. The accused then turned himself in to police on Tuesday at around 10:40 a.m.
As a result, a 26-year-old Thamesville man has been charged with mischief, uttering threats, two counts of assault, and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. He was held pending a bail hearing.
