The Budget Includes Funding For The CTC In Chatham-Kent

Concept design for the new Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent.

Some great news in the budget for the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent as the province is sending a cheque to assist with the building of a new Treatment Centre.

Officials have already picked out the piece of property and this will allow them to move forward with construction.

Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Rick Nicholls says “the money will be targeted for the Children’s Treatment Centre. It has been long overdue, the previous government had promised but never delivered, and for us it was a promise made and a promise kept”

Nicholls says he “can’t wait to see them break ground and start the brand new process that will serve about 30,000 people around the Chatham-Kent area.”

“Our dream for a new Children’s Treatment Centre has come true,” says CTC-CK Executive Director Donna Litwin-Makey. “I want to thank the countless individuals who have advocated tirelessly to help us reach our goal of a provincial funding investment. This funding will allow us to provide quality services and decrease waiting for our caseloads totaling over 5,000 children and youth across our catchment area.”

The new 50,000 square foot facility on McNaughton Avenue West near Bear Line in Chatham will accommodate more therapy space, customized therapy areas, and accessibility enhancements to better serve the community.
