Today they announced 2.9 million dollars through the Inclusive Community Grant’s Program.
The money will help to finance 55 projects aimed at keeping people of all ages and abilities healthy and engaged.
Rick Nicholls, the MPP for Chatham-Kent-Leamington, says one of the key projects is a refresher course for older drivers.
Nicholls says “it’s a great way to remind people of the rules of the road to keep everyone safe.”
The active Lifestyle Centre will oversee the project thanks to a $56,000 dollar grant.
“The Active Lifestyle Centre is very excited to take on this new venture,” said Linda Lucas, Executive Director of Active Lifestyle Centre. “Our Centre is the perfect place for older adults to participate in an in-class setting and receive resources regarding their testing as they age.”
Municipalities across Ontario can receive up to $60,000 to assist local projects.
