A 39 year old Chatham man is in trouble after police say he not only stole some items from Walmart, but got rough with a store employee when they tried to stop the getaway.
Chatham-Kent police say the man was concealing items as he walked around the store, and then tried to flee. He was approached by Loss Prevention and the suspect assaulted the officer.
He then ran into another store and tried to put on a disguise. Police were not buying it though and took him into custody.
The man is charged with Assault, Theft and Possession of Stolen Property under $5000, and Escape Lawful Custody.
He was later released pending a court date.
