Theft Charges Laid in Chatham

A Chatham man spent some time behind bars overnight after throwing a temper tantrum in a Chatham store.

Police were called to the Grand Avenue West business shortly after 5 Wednesday afternoon and say the accused was throwing items around inside the building, then allegedly tried to leave the store without paying.

Police were called and were able to locate the suspect a short distance away. Believing he was under the influence, he was arrested and taken to police headquarters.

The 31-year-old Chatham man is charged with theft and was held until he sobered up.
