A Harwich Township woman who was already wanted for theft has been arrested following a shoplifting incident in Blenheim.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said shortly before 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, a woman concealed multiple items on her person at a retail store on Communication Road and tried to leave without paying. When confronted by an employee, the woman pushed past causing the employee to fall, which resulted in a minor injury.

Police were then called and officers located the accused a short distance away. Police also learned that she was wanted on an outstanding warrant in connection to a theft investigation in Chatham from back in June.

As a result, the 28-year-old Harwich Township woman has been charged with robbery, two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking, three counts of theft, and four counts of possession of stolen property. She was remanded into custody following a bail hearing and will appear in court later this month.
