The fight over a $6 million lottery ticket continues, with Maurice Thibeault receiving half of the winnings, and OLG releasing the other half to the Court pending an Order of the Court.
Denise Robertson, Thibeault’s former girlfriend, has been fighting for her half since Thibeault claimed the ticket back in September.
In a statement released today, Robertson’s lawyer Steven Pickard says,
“Ms. Robertson feels that she is now placed in a position of unfairness. Mr. Thibeault will have the benefit of his half of the winnings to fight Ms. Robertson’s legitimate claim to her half. Ms. Robertson will have to rely on her own resources ensure that she is heard fairly in these proceedings”
In a letter to Robertson, the OLG said half of the winnings will be given to Thibeault.
“OLG shall retain the disputed prize share for a period of 45 days. If OLG is not advised of a resolution of these matters within 45 days of this correspondence, OLG shall pay the disputed prize share into court on notice to both you and Mr. Thibeault.”
According to Robertson’s lawyer, she is evaluating the next steps in the dispute.
