A harsh reminder to lock your vehicle, even if you’re only getting out for a few minutes.
Just before 8 o’clock Monday morning, Chatham-Kent police say a car that was left running outside Tim Hortons on Lacroix Street was stolen.
Authorities got a driving complaints about the same vehicle a short time later and were able to track it down.
A man and woman from Chatham have both been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime.
Police say it can take thieves less than 30 seconds to steal a car. Drivers are reminded to always lock their doors, keep valuables out of sight, and never leave a vehicle running unless you are in it.
