
Truck owners in Chatham-Kent should keep a close eye on their vehicle.
A new report from Chatham-Kent Police shows pick-up trucks were the most stolen vehicles in the municipality last year.
Officers responded to a total of 202 stolen vehicle complaints in 2024 with data showing that pick-up trucks were targeted at significantly higher rates than other vehicle types. The top five most frequently stolen vehicles in Chatham-Kent were the GMC Sierra, Chevy Silverado, Dodge Ram, Ford F150, and Kawasaki motorcycle.
Owners are reminded to take proactive steps to protect their vehicles: always lock your vehicle, even when parked at home; never leave keys inside your vehicle or in the ignition; remove any valuables from plain sight; and consider installing anti-theft devices or tracking technology.
