According to the Municipality, over 12,077 people voted online and at advance polls this month – up significantly from the 9,389 advance and online voter turnout in 2014.
Of the 12,077 votes cast this year so far, 9,787 were cast online and 2,290 were cast at the advance polls. Advance poll totals in 2010 were 3,077 and were 3,948 in 2006.
Yesterday alone, 1,800 votes were cast before online voting closed.
Chief Returning Officer and Chatham-Kent Director of Municipal Governance Judy Smith says she’s pleased with the increases, and attributes the growth to increased publicity regarding online voting.
