Threats To Cause Harm, Damage Property Result In Charges

A Chatham man will have to answer to a judge in court after allegedly making threatening remarks.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a disturbance on Coverdale Street in Chatham shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday after a man was heard yelling at two people.

Authorities located the accused nearby and took him into custody. It was then learned that he was under a release order not to be near or communicate with the other two individuals.

The 26-year-old Chatham man is now charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, uttering threats to damage property, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
