Three more Chatham-Kent residents have lost their lives to COVID-19.
The most recent deaths listed in today’s update from Public Health bring the total number of deaths caused by the virus in Chatham-Kent to 56 since the pandemic began.
Overall, public health is reporting 65 new cases today, with the seven-day average slipping to 29 cases a day.
The outbreak at Village on the Ridge retirement home in Ridgetown is now over with 43 total cases since it was first declared on January 17th.
There are three active outbreaks across the municipality, including a group home, Meadows of Wheatley retirement home, and the medicine unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
Meantime, the ebb and flow of COVID patients at CKHA continues.
Today’s update from the hospital shows 17 patients with COVID, up from 14 on Tuesday. Eight of those patients were admitted primarily because of COVID, while the remainder were admitted for other ailments but also tested positive for the virus.
There are four COVID patients being treated in the ICU, and one in the hospital’s progressive care unit.
