The Wallaceburg hospital redevelopment project is getting a financial boost with the completion of a three-year fundraising pledge.
The Sydenham District Hospital Auxiliary recently presented $30,000 to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation in support of the Our Hospital, Our Future Wallaceburg Redevelopment Campaign.
The donation fulfills the auxiliary’s $100,000 commitment made in July 2024, which began with a $35,000 donation, followed by another $35,000 installment in 2025. The funds were raised through the auxiliary’s volunteer-led efforts, including the Serendipity Gift Shop at CKHA’s Wallaceburg site.
“This hospital means so much to the people in our community, and our volunteers have worked very hard over the past three years to help support its future,” said Lynne Labadie, president of the Sydenham District Hospital Auxiliary, in a news release.
The redevelopment of CKHA’s Wallaceburg site will modernize key areas of the hospital, including the 24/7 emergency department, diagnostic imaging and laboratory services, as well as six medicine beds.
