Work is ramping up in Tilbury as efforts continue to tear down a pair of derelict buildings.
Municipal officials were first contacted about a collapsing building at 47 and 49 Queen Street North in 2022, with structural concerns later including a pair of neighbouring buildings as well.
Starting today, the owners of 55 Queen Street North will have a contractor on site. Demolition should begin next Tuesday, lasting for roughly two weeks.
The stalled demolition at 47 and 49 Queen Street North is also expected to resume.
Officials say there may be some minor traffic disruptions in the area, however Queen Street North and Superior Street will remain open. Residents are urged to use caution in the area.
The owners of 45 Queen Street North were issued a building permit for repairs to the wall and structures on that property. Work is anticipated to begin later this fall.
