A special fundraiser is coming to Dresden, hosted by Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman TJ Brodie and his wife Amber.

Through the couple’s Lighthouse Foundation, the Rally at the Barn pickleball tournament is organized by Taylored Pickleball Academy at the Ken Houston Memorial Agricultural Centre Friday, July 22 and Saturday July 23.

The fundraiser is in support of two causes very close to the Brodies’ hearts – Cystic Fibrosis and Multiple Sclerosis.

TJ has watched his cousin live with and battle CF his entire life. After finally witnessing Ian successfully undergo a double lung transplant, TJ has been inspired to do as much as he can for CF research as well as organ donation.

In October 2015, Amber was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. MS is an autoimmune disease that can be obviously disabling or completely invisible to others and is in desperate need of research funding in an effort to find a cure.

“This Pickleball inspired event was created as a way to bring awareness to the Lighthouse Foundation and to bring our community together,” the Brodies say in an online statement. “Pickleball is a social, yet quite competitive sport that people of all ages can play. We are excited to introduce this sport to those that may have never played and provide a fun, social tournament for the pickleball players in the Chatham-Kent area.”

Those interested in taking part are invited to register through Taylored Pickleball Academy – CLICK HERE for more information.
